The EMDR Congress 2025 focuses on the theme of sex, a topic that is becoming increasingly relevant in healthcare. The “Tussen de Lakens” Foundation has already provided healthcare professionals with valuable insights into the complexities of sex and the challenges associated with it.
The care standard for sexual dysfunctions has only been in place for three years, and it reveals that 27% of women and 19% of men experience sexual dysfunctions, yet many healthcare professionals rarely ask about sexual functioning. This discrepancy arises because both patients and professionals find it difficult to discuss sexual issues, often expecting the other person to initiate the conversation.
During the congress, lectures and workshops will demonstrate how EMDR can be useful in treating the effects of sexual abuse, sexual dysfunctions, and other sexological issues.
